Since luxury and hip hop go hand in hand, it’s not a surprise that these artists wear some of the best watches in the world. It’s not hard to see luxury timepieces embezzled with expensive stones, or made of gold, on the wrists of hip hop artists.
However, three brands have been more preferred by rappers for decades. Let’s take a deeper look into them.
Rolex
There is no surprise that Rolex is on the top of the list, as it is the most popular luxury watch manufacturer in the world. But its popularity is not the reason why it is on top. Rolex has undoubtedly been the most mentioned watch manufacturer name in hip hop music for decades, making it a symbol of success for rappers.
Many hip hop songs are dedicated to Rolex. One song even received over 750 million views on YouTube that was named Rolex in 2017, where the young artists expressed how badly they wanted a “Rollie.”
There are many different collections of Rolex watches that the top names in hip hop love to wear. Some of the most popular ones include Day-Date President and the Datejust. But the Rolex President is exceptionally prevalent in the hip hop industry.
Audemars Piguet
No matter how much rappers may love their Rolex timepieces, you are very likely to see many top hip hop artists show off their Audemars Piguet. But notably, the Royal Oak Offshore models. These models were initially introduced in the early ’70s with a very distinct integrated bracelet and a marvelous octagon bezel, making an exceptional look that is quite famous among big names in the hip hop industry.
Since the name is not easy to include in rap songs, they are more commonly referred to as AP. For instance, Post Malone says “my AP goin’ psycho” right in the beginning of the famous hit song “Psycho” that he made featuring Ty Dolla $ign. Patek Philippe
Patek Philippe is one of the oldest names in luxury timepieces that has produced many elegant and classic designs over the decades. But since they usually have simple designs, hip hop artists favor the Nautilus collection more than the others.
Many famous hip hop artists have expressed their love for Patek Philippe in their songs, such as the album Without Warning by 21 Savage, Offset, and Metro Boomin. But with or without any expensive stones, many hip hop artists have shown their love for Patek Philippe.
