Elephone is a Chinese brand known popularly for its decent products at warm and friendly prices. Elephone A4 is one such device recently launched by this brand. From the first look this smartphone appears to be a clone of iPhone X at a very friendly price. In spite of such a low price, there is no compromise in the quality and performance of A4. Now, let’s get on to the in-depth review of this classy looking smartphone.

Design
As I said above, its design is copied from iPhone X. The phone has a compact design and also feels comfortable in hands. It weighs about 189 grams and has around 7.87 mm thickness. It is available in two colors, black and gold.
The display is stretched to whole surface in the front, with a small bezel without navigation keys at the bottom and a top notch where selfie camera, earpiece and sensors are placed. The side bezels of this phone are rarely visible, giving it a classy look.
Fingerprint sensor is mounted on the right side of this smartphone instead of the rear side. When we flip it we see a rear camera and a dual LED flash at top left in a vertical position, which also resembles iPhone X. A micro USB 2.0 interface rests at the bottom side of the device.

Display
Elephone A4 sports a 5.85 inch display with 1440*720 pixels resolution with 275ppi pixel density in 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is made from IPS technology which offers good viewing angles. The touch screen supports 5 point multi-touch which is suitable for precise operation. Overall, the HD+ display seems quite stunning and impressive at such a low price.
Hardware
As far as the processor is concerned, it comes with MediaTek MT6739. It is successor of MediaTek MT6737 which is currently most popular in the low budget phones. The quad cores of the processor clocks at a frequency of 1.5GHz. For handling high demanding games, UI, video playback etc. this phone is equipped with PowerVR GE8100 GPU.
The SoC comes integrated with 3GB RAM which is good enough for smooth multi-tasking. RAM is LPDDR3 type and has a frequency of 677MHz. Internal memory of this device is 16 GB which seems low but you can expand it upto 128GB by using microSD card.
Software
Elephone A4 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo system, which makes it fast and opens the world of Google Play Services for its users. This OS lines it in the list of smartphones using Oreo at such a low cost.
Connectivity
Elephone A4 supports many LTE bands which makes it suitable for using throughout the world. It comes with a hybrid card slot, which can be used to insert SIM card as well as SD card as per your requirement. That means it can operate two SIM cards simultaneously or one SIM card and one microSD card.
Sensors
This phone supports Face Unlock feature like iPhone X as well as has fingerprint sensor at side. The fingerprint sensor is quite fast and takes only 0.2 seconds to unlock the device. Face unlock of this phone uses more than 128 invisible dots to analyze you face for faster unlocking.
Moreover, it has Proximity Sensor which turns off the screen when you are on call to prevent accidently touching keys by your face, thus saving battery as well. The Light sensor automatically adjusts the brightness of your screen according to your surroundings, providing you a better display experience. It is equipped with Gravity sensor and Compass as well.
Camera Review
This Chinese smartphone sports dual cameras, an 8MP Samsung camera with dual LED flash at back and a 5MP camera in front. The rear camera features Autofocus, which perfectly fine tunes focus of your images and has f/2.0 aperture which clicks quite brighter imaged. It also supports multiple modes which are expected from a smartphone camera.
You can shoot 3K videos with this device like an SLR camera at such a friendly price.
Battery Life
A4 is equipped with a 3000mAh non-removable LI-Po battery. It supports 2A quick charge and will last you a whole day for approx. 6-7 hours display-on-time. The battery seems less for its specs but it is quite good for a smartphone costing around USD100.
Conclusion
Elephone A4 can surely not match the level of iPhone X but you get some remarkable features at a 9 times less price of an iPhone. It has very elegant and classy looks and a metal-glass body at such a low-budget. Moreover, you are getting a good processor and latest OS with 3GB RAM which seems pretty impressive. The internal storage seems less but you get an option to expand it through external card. Overall, it is a full value for money and is worth buying for people who are looking for a classy and budget smartphone with great performance.
